March for International Women's Day in Mexico City

This Saturday, March 8th, the march for International Women's Day will take place, where the demands of the struggles for the rights of all will be shared. The causes for this year include the fight for the approval of legal abortion laws in all states of the Mexican Republic, the protection of women and children against vicarious violence, the rights of trans women, and the demand to end the disappearances of women and femicides.

The 8M march in Mexico City will start at the Diana Cazadora fountain on Paseo de la Reforma. It is expected that the contingents will begin to advance at 12:30 PM, with arrivals scheduled from 11:30 AM. Various collectives, such as Tetas y Rayas, have called on interested women to gather at different points and times to join the march.

On this day, the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City announced the supervision of the recharging of 200 fire extinguishers that will be used by police personnel to extinguish possible outbreaks of fire during the march. Representatives of the Human Rights Commission, the Coexistence Group of the Government Secretariat, and authorities from the SSC will participate in verifying the conditions of the fire extinguishers and ensuring their correct use.

According to police action protocols, the assigned policewomen will wear complete uniforms and protective equipment, including helmets, shields, and fire extinguishers, which will be used exclusively for the containment of fires, neutralization of explosive devices, or control of flammable substances.
